Phytosanitary requirements are plant health measures seeking to prevent the entry of plant pests and diseases into national territory through importation of plant-origin products. In Mexico, SENASICA establishes a phytosanitary requirement sheet for each product and country of origin, which may include an exporting country phytosanitary certificate, quarantine treatment (fumigation, heat treatment), point-of-entry inspection, sampling, and laboratory analysis. They are fundamental for protecting Mexican agriculture.
Phytosanitary Certificate
An official document issued by the plant health authority of the exporting country certifying that plant products, fruits, seeds, or wood meet the phytosanitary requirements of the importing country.
