A port terminal is a specialized facility within a seaport designed for vessel loading and unloading operations, temporary cargo storage, and cargo transfer between maritime and ground transport. Specialized terminals exist by cargo type: container terminals (most common in foreign trade), dry bulk terminals, liquid bulk terminals, general cargo terminals, and vehicle terminals (ro-ro). In Mexico, major terminals include SSA México in Manzanillo, APM Terminals in Lázaro Cárdenas, and ICAVE in Veracruz.
