A CITES certificate is an official document issued by Mexico's SEMARNAT authorizing the import, export, or re-export of specimens of species listed in Appendices I, II, or III of the Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species of Wild Fauna and Flora. This certificate is a mandatory non-tariff regulation that must be presented at customs with the pedimento. It covers live animals and plants as well as derived products such as skins, timber, extracts, and handicrafts.
