Also known as: IVA-IEPS certification, IMMEX VAT credit
A certification granted by SAT to IMMEX companies allowing them to obtain a tax credit to avoid paying VAT and IEPS on temporary imports, instead of the bond guarantee scheme.
VAT-IEPS certification is a benefit granted by SAT to IMMEX companies allowing them to apply a tax credit equal to 100% of the VAT and IEPS they would otherwise pay on temporary imports. Instead of paying these taxes and requesting subsequent refunds (or guaranteeing them through bonds), the certified company receives a credit that automatically offsets them.
Without certification, IMMEX companies must guarantee VAT on temporary imports through bonds or letters of credit, implying significant financial costs. Certification eliminates this cost by granting a 100% tax credit.
To obtain certification, the company must meet requirements for inventory control, electronic accounting systems, tax and trade compliance, and implement verifiable internal controls. It is one of the most important programs for the competitiveness of Mexico's maquiladora industry.
IMMEX (Maquiladora Program)
