A Sectoral Promotion Program allowing imports of inputs and machinery at reduced or zero tariffs when destined for production of goods in strategic economic sectors.
The Sectoral Promotion Program (PROSEC) allows manufacturing companies to import at preferential ad valorem tariffs (generally 0% or 5%) certain goods used as inputs, raw materials, parts and components, machinery, and equipment, when destined for manufacturing specific products. It covers 24 industrial sectors including electrical, electronic, automotive, pharmaceutical, textile, steel, and mining. Administered by the Ministry of Economy, companies must demonstrate imported goods are incorporated into their production process.
