An emergency NOM is a Mexican Official Standard issued expeditiously to address extraordinary situations endangering health, safety, the environment, or the economy. Unlike ordinary NOMs requiring at least 60 days of public consultation, emergency NOMs are published directly in the Official Gazette and take effect immediately. Their maximum validity is 6 months, extendable by another 6 months. They can directly affect imports of regulated products.
