Customs storage is the safekeeping and custody service for merchandise within a bonded facility while customs clearance is completed. Fees are charged daily per container or package and increase progressively: the first few days are usually free or low-cost, but after the grace period, rates increase significantly. Extended storage can result from missing documentation, pending permits, customs examination findings, or unpaid duties.
