Homologation is the process of verifying and certifying that an imported product meets the technical standards in the destination country. In Mexico, homologation is required for products such as telecommunications equipment (IFT), electronic devices (safety NOM), vehicles and auto parts (transport NOM), medical devices (COFEPRIS), and appliances (energy efficiency NOM). The process includes laboratory testing, document review, and issuance of a homologation certificate by an accredited body.
