Requirements and permits

  • Zoosanitary certificate from country of origin
  • SENASICA import permit
  • NOM-051-SCFI/SSA1 — Food front labeling
  • NOM-243-SSA1 — Dairy products (sanitary provisions)
  • Documented cold chain (refrigerated container)
  • EU certificate of origin (for EU-Mexico FTA preference within quota)

Important notes

Imported cheeses have high duties to protect domestic dairy production. Parmesan from the EU may benefit from the EU-Mexico FTA with reduced tariffs within specific quotas. Requires zoosanitary certificate, SENASICA permit, and cold chain. IEPS does not apply to dairy products. NOM-051 front labeling is mandatory.

Important notice

The costs shown are estimates based on public tariff rates from the TIGIE and reference values. Actual costs may vary based on exchange rate, declared value, country of origin, applicable trade agreements, countervailing duties, and other factors. Consult a customs broker for an accurate quote.
