Chapter 55

Man-made staple fibers

Chapter 55 covers synthetic staple fibers (polyester, acrylic, nylon), artificial staple fibers (viscose), yarns, and sewing threads of staple fibers. Unlike chapter 54, these fibers come in cut form, not continuous filament. Mexico imports polyester and acrylic fibers for the textile industry.
