Chapter 41

Raw hides and skins (other than furskins) and leather

Chapter 41 covers hides and skins of bovine, equine, sheep, goat, and other animals, whether raw, tanned, or prepared. Mexico has an important leather industry in Leon, Guanajuato, but imports specialized tanned hides. Raw hides require zoosanitary certificates. Protected species skins are regulated under CITES.
