Chapter 26
Chapter 26 covers metalliferous ores (iron, copper, aluminum, zinc, tin, manganese, chromium), mineral concentrates, slag, and ash. Mexico is an important mining producer but imports specific concentrates for refining. Most ores enter at 0% duty as raw materials. Some require SEMARNAT permits due to environmental impact.

Actual rates depend on the specific tariff heading, country of origin, and applicable trade agreements (USMCA, EU-Mexico FTA, CPTPP, etc.).
Most metalliferous ores enter at 0% duty. Slag and ash may be classified as hazardous waste requiring SEMARNAT permits. Radioactive ores (uranium, thorium) require CNSNS permits. Environmental regulations for transport and storage must be met.
