Chapter 09

Coffee, tea, mate and spices

Chapter 09 covers coffee, tea, mate, and spices such as pepper, cinnamon, cloves, nutmeg, ginger, saffron, turmeric, and vanilla. Mexico produces and exports coffee but imports tea and many spices. Spices are subject to sanitary and labeling regulations. Imported coffee competes with domestic production from Veracruz, Chiapas, and Oaxaca.
