Chapter 71 covers pearls, precious stones (diamonds, rubies, sapphires, emeralds), precious metals (gold, silver, platinum), jewelry, goldsmith articles, and coins. Mexico is a major silver producer but imports diamonds, refined gold, and jewelry. Diamonds must comply with the Kimberley Process.
