Before registering for MVE filing, you need three things in place: an active RFC (Mexican tax ID), a current e.firma (FIEL) digital certificate issued by SAT, and active registration in the Padrón de Importadores. Foreign companies without a Mexican entity must work through a Mexican importer of record. If your e.firma is expired or about to expire, renew it first — the MVE cannot be signed without a valid certificate.
Plan your registration well before the August 2026 deadline. The first MVE filing often takes longer than expected due to data validation issues and VUCEM system familiarity. We recommend completing at least 3-5 test filings in February or March to iron out any issues before the mandate takes effect.
